The English Heritage Trust is a charity that cares for over 400 historical buildings, monuments and other places.

The sign is on the wall of the house where the famous American writer Herman Melville lived for a short time (probably following the publication of his book Redburn). Melville is best known for his book Moby Dick, a book that is considered one of the best books of all time.
The sign was placed in 2005
