ברוך שמואל בלומברג
מדען אמריקאי יהודי, חתן פרס נובל לפיזיולוגיה או לרפואה בשנת 1906 (צ"ל 1976). בלומברג זיהה את הנגיף של דלקת הכבד הנגיפית מסוג B ראשי תיבות HBV ופיתח לה בדיקה איבחונית וכן חיסון.

A JEWISH AMERICAN SCIENTIST. BLUMBERG RECEIVED THE NOBEL PRIZE FOR PHYSIOLOGY OR MEDICINE FOR IDENTIFYING THE HEPATITIS B VIRUS (HBV), AND LATER DEVELOPING ITS DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND VACCINE.
