The sign at the entrance to the Cambridge Faculty of Engineering indicates Norman de Bruyne, a native of Chile who studied at the University of Cambridge, was the first student at the Cambridge Aviation School. De Bruyne is best known for the development of aircraft building adhesives. In 1931 he founded Cambridge Airplane Construction
