Comments:
The sign is on the site of Furnival’s Inn, a building built in 1383 that was one of the Inns of Chancery. In the 19th century after the building was rebuilt, it was used as a residence, and it is known that the famous writer Charles Dickens rented an apartment there in 1832 Click for sign's details

The building was photographed that day by the same photographer Click for a larger image

The place also won the City Heritage Award for 1993, as can be seen on the sign on the other side of the gate and photographed by the same photographer
