On the sign:
ANTOINETTE CANDLER CREEK This stream originates in a spring beneath Harris and Thomas residence halls and flows under Woodruff Library, surfacing again in Baker Woodlands. Except for tunnels under two roads, it then flows openly to Peayine Creek, in Emory Village. The ravine was at one time named Antoinette Gardens to commemorate plantings by Antoinette (Nettie) Candler, wife of Warren Candler (Emory Chancellor, 1914-1922). Restored to a wilder woodlands, the banks of Netties Creek benefit from volunteers who clear debris and non native plants.
