שם מדעי - Ziziphus spina-christi | שם ערבי - סִידֶר, נָבֶק, דוֹם النبق ، السدر
משפחה - אשחריים Rhamnaceae. נקרא גם עץ הדומים, ענפיו קוצניים וזיגזגיים.
בפריחתו מושך אליו מאביקים רבים, במיוחד דבורי דבש, הפרי מבשיל בעיקר בחודשים אוקטובר-נובמבר ומשמש למאכל וכמזון ציפורים. על פי המסורת הנוצרית, שמשו ענפי השיזף הקוצניים לזר שהונח על ראשו של ישו, טרם צליבתו.

Scientific name - Ziziphus spina-christi | Arabic name - Cedar, Nabek, Dom النبق ، السدر
Family - Ashhamari Rhamnaceae. Also called the Domim tree, its branches are thorny and zigzag.
In its flowering attracts many pollinators, especially honey bees, the fruit ripens mainly in October-November and is used for food and as bird food. According to Christian tradition, the thorny branches of the jujube were used for a wreath placed on the head of Jesus, before his crucifixion.
