The statue was placed in 1966 near the border between West and East Jerusalem (during this time East Jerusalem was under the rule of the Kingdom of Jordan). The statue consists of a high stone pillar on which is engraved the sentence from the book of Isaiah "and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks ...." (a side of the statue that is not photographed). The pillar stands on a metal base consisting of weapons and tools (as described in the verse from Isaiah) Click for a larger image.
