The sculpture, dedicated to the Scottish poet Robert Burns who is considered the national poet of Scotland, was placed south of the Literary Walk in Central Park in 1880. The sculpture was made by John Steell and features a scroll representing the field of literature and poetry, and a plow representing The poet’s agricultural background.
