Kishon River Trail
Kfar Hasidim opening - Yagur Kishon River is a solid river that begins in the northern Samaria Mountains, passes through the Jezreel Valley, the Zebulon Valley to the estuary to the sea in Haifa. We are located in the Kishon Gulf area, where the stream forms the natural border between Alonim Hills and the Carmel ridge and functions as an ecological corridor that allows the movement of wildlife.
The nature of the flow in the river is flooded and as a result in some winter days the trail is flooded. In the river, there is an ecosystem of moist habitats consisting of bank vegetation unique to Kishon. This system attracts a variety of birds, among them: species of ducks, songbirds, lovers of woodland and thickets such as reed warbler and common chaffinch. Mammals are also attracted to the place to quench their thirst, such as mongooses, wild boars and jackals.
Restoration work was carried out in the river in order to increase its ecological function and make it accessible to the general public as a natural site. Here you can walk in the thicket of the river channel, reach the ecological island and be impressed by the aquatic habitat.
The creek trail in this project continues the existing trail along the Kishon from the HaHamakim Park which is planned to continue up to the creek estuary to the sea.
