בית הכנסת "תפארת צבי איצקוביץ" נוסד עוד בטרם קום המדינה ע"י גר הצדק ר’ צבי איצקוביץ ז"ל. בכדי למנוע נסיעת כלי רכב סמוך לביתו בשבתות, הפך, ר’ צבי את ביתו לבית כנסת וכך ניצל חוק מנדטורי הקובע כי רחוב שיש בו בית כנסת נסגר לתנועה בשבת. ר’ צבי ואשתו עברו לגור ברפת שבחצר, וביתו הפך לבית כנסת.
במשך עשרות שנים שימש בית הכנסת כמקום תפילה לתושבי האזור. עם הזמן גדלה המושבה בני ברק והפכה לעיר, ובמקביל נהפך ביתו של ר’ צבי למקום תפילה מרכזי שברבות השנים נעשה צר מלהכיל את כמות המתפללים הגדולה. על כם רכשו גבאי בית הכנסת את חלקו השני של הבית, ובנו מחדש את מבנה בית הכנסת המכיל בתוכו חדרי תפילה חדשים ומפוארים לטובת הציבור.
בית הכנסת איצקוביץ הוא בית הכנסת הפעיל ביותר בעולם, בו מתפללים ולומדים עשרות אלפי אנשים מכל עדות ישראל במשך כל שעות היממה.

Beis Knesses Itzkowitz
The "Tiferes Zvi Itzkowitz" Synagogue was established by a convert to Judaism: Reb Zvi Itzkowitz, z"l, prior to the establishment of the State of Israel. To prevent vehicles trom traveling near his home on Shabbos, Reb Zvi converted his house into a synagogue, thereby availing himself of the British Mandate’s law allowing a street containing a synagogue to be closed to traffic on Shabbos. Reb Zvi and his wife moved to the cowshed in the courtyard and their home functioned as a beis knesses.
Over the years, the original beis knesses was expanded and today it is one of the most active in the world, sometimes with 15 different minyans praying simultaneously.
