US CONSULATE RESIDENCE
The Syrian-Orthodox community built this house in 1868 and leased it in 1895 to the US Consulate, that moved to what was known at the time the street of the consulates. Changes they made included the removal of the tile-roof and opening the ground floor for shops. Among the uses of the building after the move of the consulate to Agron Street, were the clinics of the physicians Marcus Satzberger and Jossef Troy, in the street that was known also for its numerous hospitals.
