הפסל משחזר את הפגישה ההיסטורית של בנימין זאב הרצל עם הקיסר הגרמני, וילהלם השני. הפגישה התקיימה ביום רביעי י"ב בחשוון תרנ"ט (28.10.1898) בשער בית הספר החקלאי מקוה ישראל בעת ביקורו הראשון והיחיד של בנימין זאב הרצל בארץ ישראל.
בית הספר החקלאי מקוה ישראל, הוקם בשנת תר"ל (1870), והיה היישוב היהודי היחיד על אם הדרך בין יפו לירושלים.

ייסוד המדינה התאפשר הודות להקמת מקוה ישראל. אלמלא הוקם מקוה ישראל, ספק אם הייתה קמה מדינת ישראל. הכול התחיל מאז ואנו רק באנו להשלים את המעשה מבחינה פוליטית ולאומית.

The statue depicts the historical meeting between Theodor Zeev Herzl and the German Kaiser Wilhelm II. The meeting took place on October 28th 1898, at the entrance of Mikve Israel Agricultural School. This encounter occurred during Herzl’s first and only visit to Eretz (land) Israel.
Mikve Israel was founded in 1870 and was the only Jewish settlement along the road from Jaffa to Jerusalem.

The sign shape is rectangle but its head is designed according to the silhouette of the old building of the Gymnasia Herzliya, which serves as a logo of the Council for the Preservation of Heritage Sites in Israel

About the statue: The horse and emperor riding it, consist of two parts and between them a narrow path that allows passage Click for a larger image
The viewer walking along this path, sees that on both sides of the horse are engraved sentences of the two personalities:

The sculpture made by sculptor Motti Mizrachi was inaugurated in 2012 on Herzl’s 152nd birthday, and is based on a photo taken by David Wolfson
