עם סיום מבצע "דני", אור ליום ט’ בתמוז תש"ח (ליל 15-16 ביולי 1948) תקפו לוחמי "פלמ"ח הראל", את משלטי לטרון שהוחזקו בידי כוחות גדולים של הצבא הירדני. בשלוש התקפות ישראליות גדולות שנערכו קודם לכן לא הצליחו התוקפים לכבוש את המשלטים.

כוחות "פלמ"ח הראל", הצליחו להיאחז במשלט הגבוה של רכס איילון שלפניכם, אולם מתקפת נגד ירדנית מבית נובא, שהסתייעה גם בשיריוניות קרב, גרמה אבידות כבדות לכוחות הפלמ"ח שנאלצו לסגת עם שחר. בקרב זה נפלו 19 מלוחמי "פלמ"ח הראל".

Battle of the Ayalon ridge
At the end of "Danny" Operation , light on Tuesday, July 15, 1948, the Palmach Harel fighters attacked the Latrun posts held by large forces of the Jordanian army. In three major Israeli attacks previously carried out, the attackers were unable to occupy the posts.

The Palmach Harel forces managed to hold on to the high outpost of the Ayalon ridge in front of you, but a Jordanian counterattack from Beit Nuba, which was also aided by battle armor, caused heavy losses to the Palmach forces who had to retreat at dawn. In this battle, 19 Palmach Harel fighters fell.
