היה מתמתיקאי גרמני לוטרני, נולד יהודי אך המיר דתו, חתן פרס נובל לפיזיקה בזכות תרומתו למכניקת [הקוונטים] משוואת שרדינגר, קירוב בורן לבעיית פיזור. הוא זכה לפרס נובל לפיזיקה בשנת 1954.
