מכאן החל מבצע "ההר"
במהלך ההפוגה השנייה, י"ב תמוז תש"ח - י"ז תשרי תש"ט (19 ליולי- 19 לאוקטובר 1948), תיכננו לוחמי "פלמח-הראל" מבצע גדול לכיבוש הרי-חברון ובית-לחם ובכך להסיר את המצור שהטילו הירדנים והמצרים על ירושלים הישראלית כדי לכבוש אותה במלחמת העצמאות.

עם תום ההפוגה השנייה באיזור, אור ליום י"ז תשרי תש"ט (ליל 19-20 לאוקטובר 1948), פתחו לוחמי "פלמ"ח-הראל" במתקפה על הכוחות הערבים בהרי-יהודה ותוך ארבעה ימים כבשו את איזור הרי-יהודה הנשקפים מכאן.

כיבושים אלו היוו את סיומם של מבצעי "פלמ"ח-הראל" בהרי-ירושלים ובכך הבטיחו את חיבורה של ירושלים למדינת-ישראל.

During the second truce, July 19, 1948, October 19, 1948, the Palmach-Harel fighters planned a major operation to occupy the Hebron Mountains and Bethlehem, thus removing the siege imposed by the Jordanians. And the Egyptians over Israeli Jerusalem to conquer it in the War of Independence.

At the end of the second truce in the area, on the evening of October 19, 1948, the Palmach-Harel fighters launched an attack on the Arab forces in the Judean Mountains and within four days conquered the Judean Mountains. hence.

These conquests marked the end of the Palmach-Harel operations in the Jerusalem mountains, thus ensuring the connection of Jerusalem to the State of Israel.
