The Electric Pole

בשנת 1933 לפני שהמתיישבים הראשונים התיישבו על הקרקע, כבר ניצב עמוד החשמל שמספרו P4/245 בשטח שעתיד להיות רמות השבים. העמוד היה נקודת ציון למצטרפים החדשים. במרוצת הזמן העמוד, שניצב במרכז הצומת, הוקף בכיכר קטנה, ונהפך לאחד מסימני ההיכר של היישוב. לאחר כ-80 שנים החליטה חברת החשמל להסירו מטעמי בטיחות. בשנת 2014 הוסר העמוד ההיסטורי, ובמקומו הוצב בצד הכביש עמוד חדש הנושא את מספרו של העמוד הישן.

Electric pole number P4/245 has been standing in the same place since it was put up in 1933 shortly before Ramot Hashavim was founded. The pole was a point of reference for newcomers to the village. Over time the pole was encircled by a small roundabout and has become one of the familiar symbols of the village.
In 2014, after 80 years, the electric company took down the historic pole and in its stead, on the side of the road, a new pole was erected with the same number.
