Translation of the text on the sign: Yoel Moshe Salomon 1838-1912
Born in Jerusalem. He was a publicist, publisher of a printing press, editor of the Lebanon newspaper and owner of the bi-weekly "Judah and Jerusalem" In his papers he expressed his ideas for settling Israel in agricultural settlement. It served as the link between the founders and the Turkish authorities and the Arab landowners, thanks to his control of the Arabic language.
