THE PAINTER JOSEPH KOSSONOGI LIVED & WORKED IN THIS HOUSE
The sign is in the house where the painter Yosef Kossonogi lived. Born in Budapest, Hungary (1908-1981), immigrated to Israel in 1926. Best known for its watercolor paintings. He has twice won the Dizengoff Prize for Painting, the Nordau Prize and other prizes. The house is located in what was once known as the village of Summayl, painted by Kossonogi, where he is known to have lived in the 1930s. It is known that during the summer he also lived in the Artists Campus in Safed.
