The Hebrew Laborer Statue
The Hebrew Laborer Statue was designed by Arieh Elhanani and symbolized the spirit of Hebrew labor. The statue is a figurative depiction of a laborer carrying a construction beam on his shoulder. The inscription on the construction beam read: "The exhibition, with its buildings and pavilions, was erected by the Cooperative Contracting Office of the General Jewish Workers Union Ltd." A shallow pool of water surrounded the statue and benches were set around the pool, serving as a place for the Levant Fair’s visitors to meet and to relax. Over the years the statue was destroyed, and in 1989 it was restored by the Tel Aviv-Yafo municipality.
