Shlomo Katz’s Sgraffito Above the exhibition panels stands Sgraffito
.
Sgraffito (Italian: sgraffito) - Technique of painting on walls. The wall is covered with plaster, and while the plaster is damp, the artist engraves the painting inside the plaster.,
The painting was created between the years 1969-1970 by the artist Shlomo Katz, inspired by the film that was released a year earlier "Yellow Submarine"
Over the years the painting was neglected, parts of it fell and disappeared. Until in 2017 it was decided to restore the mural. Since there was no documentation of the original painting, the Ramat Gan municipality asked citizens through social media to provide it with photographs showing the wall in its entirety. The restoration work was entrusted to the restorer Shai Farkash, and with the help of the photos that arrived, he was able to restore the original Sgraffito.
