Historical Background
Herzliya, named after the contract of the State of the Jews - Benjamin Zeev Herzl - was founded in 1924.
In 1936 Herzliya was recognized as a local council
, and in 1960 as a city.
The "Kehilat Zion (Zionist Community)" group, a Zionist movement from the United States, came to the lands purchased in 1924 by Yehoshua Hankin (the Savior of the lands).
The design of the city was done by the architect
Richard Kauffmann.
