IS A JEWISH-AMERICAN THEORETICAL PHYSICIST. HE WAS AWARDED THE 2005 NOBEL PRIZE IN PHYSICS FOR FOUNDING THE QUANTUM THEORY OF OPTICAL COHERENCE THAT CONSTITUTES THE BASIS FOR MODERN UNDERSTANDING OF THE NATURE OF LIGHT.
