המבנה שלצדנו נבנה בתקופת המנדט הבריטי כמגורי קבע עבור עובדי הרכבת. מעל למבנה היה מכל מים, שאותו אפשר לראות עד ההיום, אשר שימשו את העובדים. לעת מצוא שימש הכלל גם מקור למים חמים עבור תושבי הכפר.

"מאז שאני זוכר את עצמי יש רכבת ברקע... 50 שנה הוא עבד ברכבת. בשבילו זה היה ’כיבוש עבודה’, כי ברכבת עבדו מעט יהודים. אבא הסכים לעשות את העבודה הקשה למרות שהמשכורת הייתה נמוכה... הוא פשוט נדבק בחיידק הרכבת ונשאר..." שלמה כהן, דור שני לעובדי הרכבת, מספר על אביו, שעבד ברכבת משנת 1918.

ام لعمال القطار . فوق المبنى كان خزان مياه ، الذي يمكن زيته حتى اليوم ، والذي استخدمه العمال . لاستغلاله استعمل الخزان أيضا كمصدر للمياه الساخنة للقرويين . منذ طفولتي كان هناك قطار في حياتي . في القطار . بالنسبة له كان ذلك نوعا من " احتلال العمل ، لأنه لم يكن يعمل في القطار الا القليل من اليهود . وافق والدي على القيام بهذا العمل الشاق على الرغم من الراتب المنخفض .. شلومو كوهين ، الجيل الثاني من عمال القطار ، يتحدث عن والده ، الذي عمل في . بساطة اصيب بفيروس القطار ... القطار منذ عام 1918 .

The structure next to you was built during the British Mandate as permanent living quarters for train workers. The water tank on top of the building, which can still be scen today, provided the workers with water. It sometimes even provided the villagers with hot water.

"As far back as I can remember, there has been a train in the background... he worked on the train for 50 years. For him this was the ’conquest of Work,’ because few Jews worked on the railroad. Dad agreed to do the hardest work although the pay was low... He simply got bitten by the train bug and stayed on..."

Sign No. 69 in a series of signs placed on or around lighting poles, including the history of the old railway line to Jerusalem, along which its route extends the HaMesila (Railway) Park.
